# The Human Record — Privacy Policy

*A living document, changed only by governance, with every change
dated. Last updated: 2026-07-17.*

The Record exists to publish testimony, not to collect people. This
page says exactly what the institution holds, what it never holds,
and what your email is used for. It is short because the truth is
short.

## What The Record holds

- **Your testimony.** You wrote it to be published, and it is public
under your number and the name you chose. Answers you sealed are
the exception: they stay hidden until your death is reported with
your Legacy Key, or until one hundred years pass.
- **Your email address, privately.** It is how The Record answers
you, and it never appears anywhere public. It is also kept as a
one-way coded fingerprint that lets The Record ask "has this
address enrolled before?" so that every human holds exactly one
record. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into your address.
- **Your acceptance.** The agreement you make on the consent page,
your email, your affirmations, and the time, kept as the contract
  between you and The Record.
- **Invitations, privately.** Who invited whom is kept as one number
standing behind another, never published on any page.

## What The Record never holds

- No accounts and no passwords. Your continuity key and your Legacy
Key exist only in your hands; The Record keeps only their
fingerprints, which cannot recreate the keys.
- No birth dates, no birthplaces beyond the coarse optional field
you choose yourself, no government identifiers, no biometrics.
- No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no advertising, and no
third-party code: every page tells your browser, by fingerprint,
exactly which code it may run, and nothing else runs.
- No visit logs tied to you. Protective counters against automated
flooding exist for hours and erase themselves.

## What your email is used for

Three things only: the outcome of your submission and your number;
a question a steward must ask you about your own record; and the
mourning ceremony, if your Legacy Key is one day presented. Never
marketing. Never shared. Never sold.

## Withdrawal

You may withdraw any testimony with your continuity key. Its words
are removed from every copy The Record controls; a marker, the
fingerprint of what was once said, and your number remain, as the
consent page explains. Copies others made while your words were
public cannot be recalled.

## If the law ever asks

The Record can only produce what it holds, and you now know the
whole list: an email address, an acceptance, and words you chose to
publish. There is nothing else to hand over.

The Record is operated today by Buch Media Inc., while the
independent institution it is meant to become is being established.
